The projects you are interested in or support are your business only. We never share this data with anyone, not even with the projects present on Lilo.

Our funding model, like that of all free search engines, is based on advertising, which allows us to fund solidarity projects. However, the only advertising you will find on Lilo is contextual advertising, i.e. sponsored links based on search keywords. This is indeed the most respectful advertising for privacy and the most ethical in that it corresponds to something you are looking for.
We have a partnership with Microsoft that provides us with search results and advertising based on search keywords. When you give your consent to receive personalized advertising, we allow Microsoft to collect limited data in order to offer you better ads.

By using Lilo you considerably reduce the data you share, especially if like 9 out of 10 French people you were used to using Google. Once you have installed Lilo, think about deleting the data that Google has on you (you'll see there's a lot đ±).
We show you how to do it here đ Internet browsing and privacy.
(Since protecting your privacy on the internet is not limited to your search engine, on this same page you will also find other advice from us)
Want to read everything?
You will find below our complete charter đ
You're getting to know us, our mission at Lilo is to offer digital tools to support social and environmental projects. And to carry out this mission, we have developed different services including the Solidarity Search Engine.
When you use one or the other of these services (first, we say a big thank you! đ), some of your data qualified as personal data may be transmitted to us. This could be your IP address or your browser identifier for example. Indeed, personal data is, within the meaning of the GDPR, all data that allows identifying or making an individual identifiable.
Your data is precious and we are committed to taking the greatest care of it. But what exactly are we talking about? What are, clearly, this personal data and what is it used for? Well, that's the purpose of this Charter, which goes by the sweet name of Charter Relating to the Protection of Personal Data of Users (of Lilo, of course).
First important thing to know: we only collect your personal data for specific purposes. We will not use your personal data for purposes other than our legitimate interest or purposes other than those specified, and will not collect data beyond what is necessary. For security reasons, we only authorize secure SSL/HTTPS connections so no third party can monitor your browsing on Lilo without your knowledge.
When you perform a search on Lilo, we process different information to display answers to your searches in a relevant way, fight against fraud, comply with our legal obligations and award you the precious water drops associated with your searches đ
This includes the following information: the browser you use (the User Agent), your session preferences (display results in French for example), your IP address, the approximate geographical area from which the search originates (deduced from the IP address), and possibly data on your browsing behavior, such as the time elapsed between 2 clicks for example (always with the objective of verifying that the user is not a robot that clicks at the speed of light đ)
In order to provide you with relevant results and generate revenue that we can transform into money to fund water drops, we have a partnership with Microsoft Bing (which complies with the General Data Protection Regulation) for providing search results and advertisements. This is why Lilo may transmit this same data to this partner. In this case, in accordance with its privacy policy, this partner may store this data for a maximum period of 18 months.
Spam attacks are costly and can divert significant funds from our efforts to support the associations present on Lilo. Therefore, we manage our own spam protection intelligence, but we also ask for help from spam protection specialist, Cloudflare. Only a small sample of anonymized metadata remains at Cloudflare for a period of up to 12 months. This sample is kept in order to diagnose malicious activities and improve the effectiveness of security measures. For more information, please see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
To improve our browsing applications, we collect usage statistics such as device name, manufacturer, model, operating system number and application number or SDK version. To collect and analyze crash reports from our Android and iOS applications, we use a third-party service called Firebase from the Google ecosystem (sometimes we have no choice..) This includes data that helps us fix bugs, such as application number, device model and operating system. For more information on how Firebase processes your data, see this service's privacy statement.
In association with using the search engine, you can have the Lilo home page on your browser. This home page allows you to have direct access to your favorite sites and thus reduce the carbon footprint of your internet searches. Your favorite sites are the sites that you have explicitly saved on the home page, at no time your search history. We save the sites you have saved as favorites in your user preferences via our functional cookies or your user account in order to display them each time you open the home page. No analysis is made of your favorite sites. This seems obvious to us but we prefer to say it đ
When browsing the Lilo.org site, the following data is used to record your water drop gains and donations and establish statistics on the service: visit source, date and time of activity on our search engine (for drop gain), IP address of your device (computer, mobile, tablet), name and version of your internet browser, pages visited and links clicked. This data is recorded in a file we call Log. It is not transmitted to any third party, not even the projects to which you can give your water drops! French law requires us to keep this data for one year. After that, the files are simply deleted.
You can use all Lilo services without creating a personal account (in this case we use an anonymous account). However, we invite you to create a personal Lilo account because it allows us to secure your preferences and your water drops and even synchronize them between different devices. Indeed, when you use Lilo without creating a personal account, all this data is managed by functional cookies and you can lose this data if your cookies are deleted).
When creating a Lilo account, the following data is requested: email address, first name, password, as well as other optional data that you can choose to fill in. This data is used to link an identified user account to their water drop wallet, as well as their preferences (choice of language on Lilo, display or not of favorites, display or not of Lilo news feed, privacy or search engine preferences. They can also be used to send you information about the Lilo service and projects. In no case is this data resold or transmitted to third parties, you can also modify or delete your account and the associated email address at any time from your "My Account" space.
For the analysis of our statistics we use the Microsoft Clarity tool in an aggregated and anonymized manner. Configured by default according to CNIL recommendations, it does not require consent; with your consent we allow Clarity to deposit an anonymized identifier that will allow tracking statistics between your sessions (and no longer just for each session individually). This allows us to have better knowledge of our audience and use of the search engine.
Lilo Solidarity Shopping is a specific service independent of the search engine that allows you to collect water drops to fund eco-solidarity projects of your choice for free through your purchases from partner e-merchants. If you want to use it, you must choose to install it in addition to the search engine.
When you use the Lilo Solidarity Shopping platform and make a purchase from one of our partner merchants, we need to collect several pieces of personal data to validate your purchase with the partner merchant site and be able to credit you with the corresponding water drops: in this case we thus collect the following data: IP address, connection data and timestamp, technical data such as the browser you use and its version, date and time of the click made on the Lilo Solidarity Shopping window approving the partnership, Information from the seller's affiliate platform, including the unique identifier registered on the platforms, as well as data relating to your purchase from the Lilo Solidarity Shopping partner merchant (date, time, and purchase amount).
In case of malfunction, in order to be able to credit you with the water drops that would be due to you, we are likely to collect some of your data indirectly from the Lilo Solidarity Shopping affiliate platforms. We only do this action if you have opened a ticket with support.
By clicking on a card or scanning a QR code to receive water drops to support a project, a unique identifier is assigned to you thanks to your internet browser information. This unique identifier allows us to validate that you can benefit from water drops. The date and time of your visit are recorded to validate your gain and your water drop donations to projects. This information is also used to create statistics that serve only to improve the user experience. Statistics are not shared with any third party, not even the projects to which you donate water drops. Your browser information, the date and time of your visit as well as your IP address are recorded in parallel in a Log file that French law requires us to keep for one year. Beyond one year, the files are deleted. We do not know your email address or your identity. You are an anonymous benefactor!
If you encounter a difficulty in the use of a gift card or greeting card (e.g. card expiration, anomaly in its use) and you initiate a troubleshooting request, we will ask you for your email address, this only for the purpose of providing you with a solution (e.g. sending a new card by email). Beyond one year, this data will be automatically deleted from our log file.
When you contact us, you may share a certain amount of information with us (email address, last name, first name, IP address, phone number, ..). In this case, this data is only processed to respond to the request you send us (legitimate interest). The software we use to manage your contact requests is Zendesk whose privacy policy can be consulted at this address.
Unsurprisingly, Lilo, a simplified joint stock company, registered with the R.C.S. Paris under 811 082 882, is responsible for your personal data. Our data protection officer can be contacted at the address dpo@liloteam.org.
